Citations
Citations are often issued in lieu of arresting a defendant for C-misdemeanor infractions of Tennessee traffic law. These traffic tickets are usually issued for violations such as speeding, bypassing a traffic control signal, failure to yield, using a cell phone while driving, and following too closely.
A conviction for such an offense may result in points being added to your driving record, a fine, court costs, and possible revocation of your driver’s license. The schedule of points for certain traffic violations are provided on the Tennessee Department of Safety & Homeland Security website that is below.

Convictions for traffic violations may also trigger higher insurance premiums under certain circumstances.
